Who I Am and What I Believe
“We are made for connection with God, ourselves, and others. We all have a need to be loved, accepted, valued, and safe. When what we were designed for is missing or is taken from us we experience suffering and pain. It’s often from this place of pain that we begin to form unhealthy habits and make choices that harm us or others that we care about. I desire to enter into my client’s world for a short time to help them see and understand what is going on in their internal world, how it may be affected by their past experiences, how it plays out in present relationships, and how it does not have to define their future.
I believe that behind every face is a story that needs to be told, a voice to be heard, a soul that needs connection, and a dream to be discovered and pursued.
My heart is to meet you where you are, sit with you, walk with you, and help you get to where you want to go!
My story ultimately led me into the field of counseling. Growing up in an alcoholic family system, I quickly learned to live my life for everyone else and become what everyone needed me to be in order to feel valued and loved. It wasn’t until my marriage hit a crisis point that landed me into therapy, that I began to discover who I was and why I did the things I did. The healing I received in the process was so life-changing for me, it birthed in me a dream to help other people experience hope and healing.
I am passionate about helping women discover who they are, find their voice, know their worth, enforce healthy boundaries, heal their broken places, grow in healthy relationships, discover their unique purpose and dream, and become the brave women God designed us to be.
“Wherever you are, you make sense in your story. I desire to enter into your world, help you see and understand what is going on in your internal world, how it may be affected by past experiences, how it plays out in present relationships, and how it does not have to define your future. Whatever it takes for you to heal, you are worth it!”
I have been married to my husband Barry for twenty years, and we have four beautiful daughters, two “adopted” twin sons, and three adorable grandsons. I am originally from Ladysmith, VA where all of my extended family still resides. I enjoy spending time with my family, coffee with friends, doing life in authentic community, laughing, learning, and loving people!
