We are made for connection with God, ourselves, and others. We all have a need to be loved, accepted, valued, and safe. When what we were designed for is missing or is taken from us we experience suffering and pain. It’s often from this place of pain that we begin to form unhealthy habits and make choices that harm us or others that we care about. I desire to enter into my client’s world for a short time to help them see and understand what is going on in their internal world, how it may be affected by their past experiences, how it plays out in present relationships, and how it does not have to define their future.
I believe that behind every face is a story that needs to be told, a voice to be heard, a soul that needs connection, and a dream to be discovered and pursued. My heart is to meet you where you are, sit with you, walk with you, and help you get to where you want to go!
Dawn has been married to her husband Barry for nineteen years, and they have four beautiful daughters, two “adopted” twin sons, one adorable grandson and two more grands on the way. She is originally from Ladysmith, VA where all of her extended family still resides. Dawn enjoys spending time with her family, coffee with friends, doing life in authentic community, laughing, learning, and loving people!
Dawn’s story ultimately led her into the field of counseling. Growing up in an alcoholic family system, she quickly learned to live her life for everyone else and become what everyone needed her to be in order to feel valued and loved. It wasn’t until her marriage hit a crisis point that landed her in therapy, that she began to discover who she was and why she does the things she does. The healing she received in the process was so life- changing for her, it birthed in her a dream to help other people experience hope and healing.
Dawn is passionate about helping women discover who they are, find their voice, know their worth, enforce healthy boundaries, heal their broken places, grow in healthy relationships, discover their unique purpose and dream, and become the brave women God designed us to be.
“Wherever you are, you make sense in your story. I desire to enter into your world, help you see and understand what is going on in your internal world, how it may be affected by past experiences, how it plays out in present relationships, and how it does not have to define your future. Whatever it takes for you to heal, you are worth it!”
